I love the colors in this piece. It seems to have a life of its own because of the brush strokes and the colors -- they sort of take over the face and tell a story of their own. The warm colors on the face were a good choice in contrast with the cooler background colors.

It's very hard to critique an expressionist work, because as long as it has color and life, there are very few other requirements to make it a good expressionist piece. I see some anatomical issues (like the nose appears bent, and the eyes are slightly farther apart than they should be); but again, this could simply be a choice you made, because the style is very loose and the strange anatomy works in this case. It certainly doesn't bother me at all.

The only suggestion I do have is taking off that unsightly watermark. :giggle: There are tasteful ways to do watermarks, but DA's conventional watermark often takes away from the piece, rather than protecting it. Whereas I might fave this because of the technique you used, because of the watermark I don't think I would, because I would always see it when I looked back at the picture and get annoyed that I was missing the real brush-strokes behind it.
